First Coast Black Nurses  Association

The heart beat of the community

I would like to officially introduce you to the First Coast Black Nurses Association, Inc (FCBNA). We are a non-profit organization founded in February 2000. We are chartered and affiliated with the National Black Nurses Association. FCBNA is committed to improving the quality of life of persons who share the African American heritage, and other ethnic groups through education and communication.

Throughout the year, our organization participates in health fairs throughout the community, host educational events targeted for nurses and nursing students, healthcare workers or related fields, and lay persons in the community. Our goal is to raise awareness, increase knowledge, and decrease the risk factors that lead to health disparities. The information disseminated in our health seminars is just another avenue to promote positive reinforcements regarding disease processes, treatment modalities, latest technology, and new medications to either prevent or slow the disease process. In addition to those activities, we have various fundraisers (programs and raffles) throughout the year to raise money for our scholarship fund. FCBNA gives up to 5 scholarships in the amount of $1000 each, to students in Duval County who are in need of additional funds to complete their studies.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the meetings!
